VISTORBELITUNG.COM,President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Minangkabau International Airport in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra, on Wednesday evening (December 17, 2025) at 6:30 PM local time. The working visit is aimed at directly reviewing several locations affected by recent disasters and ensuring the acceleration of infrastructure recovery in the region.
Upon arrival, the President was greeted by West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah and a line of local officials and community leaders. In a brief statement to the press, President Prabowo emphasized his administration's full commitment to supporting the rehabilitation process for affected communities and public facilities.
"We pray that our brothers can recover soon and we work hard to restore the situation so that reconstruction and rehabilitation can begin immediately, said President Prabowo in his introduction at the Paripurna Cabinet Meeting on Monday.
The President's agenda includes visits to key sites impacted by natural disasters that have struck the province in recent months. These include areas affected by floods, landslides, and earthquakes, which have damaged homes, public facilities, and critical infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
Furthermore, President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a coordination meeting with local disaster mitigation agencies (BPBD), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, and other related institutions. The meeting will focus on evaluating ongoing recovery programs, addressing field constraints, and formulating strategic steps to expedite reconstruction.
"The President's direct review is very important to get a comprehensive picture of the situation on the ground," said Governor Mahyeldi. "We appreciate the central government's attention and are ready to synergize to accelerate recovery for the people of West Sumatra."
The visit also underscores the government's focus on building more resilient and sustainable infrastructure. President Prabowo is expected to emphasize the importance of implementing disaster-mitigation-based development principles to reduce risks and impacts in the future.
This working visit to West Sumatra is part of a series of President Prabowo's regional tours aimed at ensuring that government programs, especially those related to disaster management and infrastructure development, are implemented effectively and provide tangible benefits to communities across the archipelago.
