VISTORBELITUNG.COM,SEOUL – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has once again sent a clear, defiant message to the international community, declaring the continued development of the nation's nuclear capabilities as the "essential top priority" for national security. The statement reaffirms Pyongyang's unwavering commitment to its nuclear program, effectively dismissing any immediate prospect of denuclearization talks.

The directive, reported by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) following a meeting with key nuclear scientists and officials, sees Kim frame the nuclear arsenal as a necessary measure for safeguarding the country's sovereignty and future.

During the high-level meeting, Kim Jong-un reportedly "firmly emphasized" that strengthening the state's nuclear preparedness is "the most correct choice for the present and future of the country, and an unwavering duty that we must fulfill."

He stressed the need to constantly "sharpen and renew the nuclear shield and sword" to reliably guarantee the country's interests and rights. This aggressive rhetoric highlights a strategic posture that views nuclear capability not merely as a deterrent but as the central pillar of national defense and foreign policy.

The North Korean leader also outlined "programmatic goals" for increasing the country's nuclear capacity, promising that the government will prioritize providing all necessary support for the nuclear sector to achieve sustainable development. This signals a long-term, concerted effort to expand and modernize the nation's nuclear stockpile and delivery systems.

Kim's latest declaration is a significant blow to the United States, South Korea, and other nations that have consistently sought Pyongyang's complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization.

Earlier, Kim had already announced that North Korea would not trade anything for the lifting of sanctions and categorically ruled out the possibility of denuclearization, citing its enshrined status in national law. The renewed focus on building up nuclear forces effectively slams the door on the negotiation framework pursued by previous US administrations, which centered on sanctions relief in exchange for nuclear disarmament.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has previously warned that Pyongyang is likely acquiring a significant number of new nuclear weapons annually, and the continued pace of missile tests including new solid-fuel rockets and advanced drone technologies underscores the seriousness of North Korea's military objectives.

The international community is expected to respond with increased vigilance, with focus turning back to bolstering regional defense capabilities and tightening the enforcement of existing United Nations sanctions.
