VISTORBELITUNG.COM,NEW YORK – President Prabowo Subianto's microphone briefly went out while he was delivering a speech at the United Nations (UN) Summit in New York. The incident occurred as Prabowo was discussing the issue of Palestine, a main topic of the summit. This event garnered attention and raised questions among the public.
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) quickly provided clarification regarding the incident. According to Kemlu, the microphone failure was not due to a technical issue but was a result of official UN regulations regarding speech time limits. At the forum, each delegation is allotted a maximum of five minutes. The microphone automatically shuts off if the allocated time is exceeded.
Although the microphone went out on the live broadcast, Kemlu ensured that the important messages conveyed by President Prabowo were still clearly heard by the delegates present in the UN session room. Prabowo's speech included a firm call to end the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to the two-state solution as the only path to peace between Palestine and Israel.
Similar incidents have also been experienced by other world leaders, such as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose microphone also cut out for exceeding the time limit. This demonstrates that the incident is part of a standard procedure implemented by the UN to ensure the smooth running of the event and compliance with time allocations.
With this clarification, the public can understand that the microphone cutting out is a common occurrence and does not diminish the substance of President Prabowo's speech, which was seen as a strong representation of Indonesia's position and aspirations on the world stage.
