VISTORBELITUNG.COM,TANJUNG PANDAN, BANGKA BELITUNG - The price of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) bullion has shown an interesting trend in recent days. After experiencing fluctuations, analysts predict that the gold price has the potential to strengthen again in tomorrow's trading, Sunday (May 18, 2025).
Several global factors are expected to be the main drivers of gold price movements. Global economic uncertainty, triggered by geopolitical tensions and less encouraging economic data from several developed countries, tends to increase the attractiveness of gold as a safe-haven asset.
"Gold is still a choice for investors amid uncertainty. When there are shocks in the stock market or concerns about economic growth, demand for gold usually increases," said a commodity analyst from a private bank in Jakarta.
In addition, the movement of the United States dollar exchange rate against other major currencies will also be a concern. A weakening US dollar has historically tended to provide positive sentiment for gold prices, as the dollar-denominated commodity becomes cheaper for holders of other currencies.
In today's trading, Saturday (May 17, 2025), the price of Antam gold was observed to be stable at IDR 1,875.678 per gram for the 1-gram size. However, price movements in the global spot market indicate the potential for strengthening.
"We are seeing some buying pressure in the spot market towards the end of the week. This could be an indication that positive sentiment will continue until tomorrow," the analyst continued.
Considering these factors, analysts advise investors to continue monitoring global market developments. For long-term investors, gold is still considered an attractive asset for portfolio diversification. Meanwhile, for short-term traders, the opportunity to take a buy position could be considered if there is confirmation of price strengthening at the beginning of tomorrow's trading.
