VISTORBELITUNG.COM,BANGKA BELITUNG,The Bangka Belitung Islands, famous for their beautiful white-sand beaches and iconic granite rocks, hold a mysterious, adventure-horror movie side. One such place is the rumor surrounding Tukong Island in the Gelasa waters.

This uninhabited small island is widely reported to be a local version of "Jurassic Park"not for dinosaurs, but allegedly because it is a haven for hundreds of venomous snakes that inhabit its hidden caves.

Tukong Island, part of the archipelago in the Gelasa waters, is rarely visited by general tourists. The Gelasa waters themselves are known to be rich in marine life, making them a 'cuttlefish barn' for local fishermen. However, beneath its ecological richness lie chilling stories.

Local fishermen tell of small caves in the rocky cliffs of Tukong Island that serve as a refuge for snake colonies, especially venomous sea snakes. This phenomenon is similar to reports of the Snake Reef (Kosak) in Tanjung Ular, West Bangka, which is also known as a habitat for large numbers of sea snakes.

"The story has been passed down for generations; you have to be careful when going to Tukong, don't get close to the rock caves. They say it's full of snakes, dark-colored and venomous," said a local fisherman who wished to remain anonymous.

Small, rocky islands often become ideal habitats for reptiles, especially sea snakes seeking safe places to bask or breed. Far from human crowds, the ecosystem there develops wild and naturally.

These tales have undoubtedly attracted extreme adventure enthusiasts and wildlife researchers. The nickname "Jurassic Park of Bangka Belitung" given to the island certainly pumps adrenaline, but relevant authorities are urging the public to be extremely vigilant.

The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bangka Belitung Province (for example), warns that although the biodiversity of Bangka Belitung is fascinating, the potential danger from wildlife, especially snakes, must not be ignored.

"Sea snakes are among the most dangerous species. If the reports regarding the existence of hundreds of venomous snakes on Tukong Island are true, then the island must be considered a restricted zone for visits without experienced guides or a research purpose," he stressed.

Sea snakes, although generally not aggressive towards humans, possess a very potent neurotoxic venom. Even a small bite can be fatal if not immediately treated.

Tukong Island, with its rocky cliffs and dark caves, now stands as a symbol of the wild side of Bangka Belitung. It reminds us that behind its calm tourist charm, this archipelagic province holds natural mysteries that are yet to be fully uncovered and are fraught with danger.

Caution: Never attempt to approach or enter the rock caves on remote islands without proper equipment and expert accompaniment. Prioritize safety in the wilderness!
