VISTORBELITUNG.COM, PACIFIC OCEAN (Dec. 8, 2025) – The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) seamlessly executed a replenishment-at-sea (RAS) with the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) today, demonstrating the U.S. Navy's enduring capability to sustain operational presence far from homeport.
The evolution, conducted under favorable Pacific skies, saw Dewey maneuver alongside the massive carrier to receive essential fuel and supplies via connected replenishment lines. This complex ballet at sea is a fundamental skill, allowing the strike group to maintain its mission readiness and extended deployments without needing to divert to port.
Forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, as part of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, Dewey operates as a key component of U.S. 7th Fleet. The destroyer's presence and capabilities are vital to ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific, supporting the Navy's roles in regional security, partnership building, and deterrence.
"This replenishment is more than just transferring supplies; it's about sustaining our operational tempo and readiness alongside our carrier strike group," said the commanding officer of USS Dewey. "Integrating with George Washington allows us to project credible combat power and demonstrates our collective commitment to maritime stability."
The USS George Washington, currently operating in the 7th Fleet area of operations, provides a versatile, persistent naval force. Its embarked air wing enables power projection across vast distances, while its accompanying destroyers like Dewey provide critical layers of defense through anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
The successful RAS highlights the professionalism and skill of both crews, honed through rigorous training. It ensures that both Dewey and the George Washington Carrier Strike Group can continue their forward-deployed missions, operating in concert with allies and partners to uphold a rules-based international order.
U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy's largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
