VISTORBELITUNG.COM,President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto declared readiness to withdraw from the Board of Peace or the Council of Peace initiated by former President of United States Donald Trump if it was deemed not in line with the attitude and main interests of Indonesia on global peace especially in Palestine.

This firm statement was made by Foreign Minister Sugiono after President Prabowo met with a number of Islamic community organizations at the State Palace, Jakarta on Tuesday (3/2/2026).

Minister Sugiono stressed that Indonesia's foreign policy orientation remains unchanged, with the main focus on promoting peace in Gaza and Palestine as a whole, leading to full independence and sovereignty for Palestinians.

"Yes, if it is not what we want, first the peaceful situation in Gaza now particularly. Then the peaceful situation in Palestine in general and eventually later it will be Palestinian independence and sovereignty", Sugiono said.

He added, "I think that's the trajectory we want to reach, what we see. I guess the corridors are over there".

This statement is a strong signal that Indonesian diplomacy will continue to be principled and independent. Participation in any international forum or initiative will not alter Indonesia's historical and constitutional commitment to support the legitimate cause of the Palestinian people.

This stance also underscores that Indonesia will not hesitate to take decisive steps, including leaving a forum, if it is judged not to be in favour of the values of justice, humanity and sustainable peace which form the foundation of Indonesian foreign policy.

Thus, Indonesia reaffirms its position on the world stage: to be a constructive partner for peace, but with clear and non-negotiable principles in support of Palestinian independence.
