VISTORBELITUNG.COM,TANAH DATAR – West Sumatra continues to surprise nature lovers with its hidden treasures. One such stunning new destination captivating tourists is the Proklamator Waterfall (Air Terjun Proklamator), nestled in the serene Singgalang area, Sepuluh Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency (27282, Indonesia). Discovered recently, this natural attraction is fast becoming a must-visit spot for those seeking a refreshing escape from the urban hustle.

Located at the foot of the majestic Mount Singgalang, Proklamator Waterfall offers an untouched jungle ambiance within the Lembah Anai Nature Reserve area. The atmosphere is immediately cool and crisp, a welcome respite for any visitor. The journey itself is part of the adventure, though relatively accessible.

While the waterfall is situated near the main road (accessible from the parking area of a local restaurant, approximately 1.5 hours from Minangkabau International Airport and around 15 minutes from the main Posko), reaching the main cascade requires a 15 to 40-minute trek on foot. Visitors are advised to wear comfortable footwear as the path, a mix of earth and stones, can be wet and slippery, especially after rain.

The reward for the short trek is spectacular. Proklamator Waterfall is characterized by its tiered cascade, with some sources mentioning up to seven levels. The accessible level, often the third tier, features a remarkably clear, cool, and often stunning turquoise-colored pool (lubuak). This natural basin is deep and wide enough for visitors to swim, soak, or simply marvel at the clarity of the mountain water originating from Telaga Dewi (Dewi Lake) on Mount Singgalang. The surrounding area is dominated by lush moss and dense forest, enhancing the 'hidden paradise' feel.

What makes this natural wonder particularly interesting is its name. "Proklamator" (Proclamator) was chosen because the waterfall was first discovered by students from the Mahasiswa Pecinta Alam (Mapala) Proklamator (Proclamator Nature Lovers Student Unit) of Bung Hatta University around 2016-2020 while exploring a new climbing route. The name serves as a reminder of Indonesia’s founding fathers, the Proclamators, one of whom, Mohammad Hatta, is a revered figure from West Sumatra.

Travel Tips for Visitors

The site, officially opened to the public around 2020, is managed with safety in mind.

Operating Hours: Typically from 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM, with visitors advised to leave the area by 06:00 PM at the latest. The late closing is due to the absence of lighting along the trekking route, posing a risk after dark.

Entrance Fee: The admission ticket is generally affordable, around IDR 10,000 per person, with a minimal charge for parking.

Recommendation: Given the natural state of the trek, consider hiring a local guide, who are often available at the ticket counter, to ensure a safe and smooth journey, particularly during the rainy season.

Best Time to Visit: Avoid peak weekends if possible, as the spot can get crowded.

Proklamator Waterfall is truly a natural sanctuary a perfect destination for healing and an exciting new addition to the array of natural adventures offered in the beautiful land of Minang. It offers a tangible experience of West Sumatra's pristine ecological wealth, making it a powerful call for all adventure and nature photography enthusiasts.
