VISTORBELITUNG.COM,San Francisco, CA – Blockchain giant Ripple is doubling down on its commitment to security, announcing a major partnership with leading Web3 security platform Immunefi to launch a $200,000 "Attackathon." The initiative is a highly focused, adversarial bug-finding competition designed to rigorously stress-test the proposed XRP Ledger (XRPL) Lending Protocol before its anticipated debut.
The move underscores Ripple's intense focus on building a safe and transparent infrastructure for decentralized finance (DeFi) on the XRPL, specifically targeting institutional-grade reliability.
The Attackathon, which officially runs from October 27 to November 29, 2025, is an open invitation to security researchers globally to dissect the protocol’s core code. Participants will be tasked with uncovering vulnerabilities, with a lucrative $200,000 reward pool set aside for those who discover valid security flaws.
The primary target is the proposed XRPL Lending Protocol, which is set to introduce a fixed-term, uncollateralized loan system operating directly on the XRP Ledger. This system, governed by the new XLS-66 standard, is intended to lay the foundation for sophisticated capital markets on the XRPL.
"In the world of institutional DeFi, security is non-negotiable," a Ripple spokesperson stated. "By partnering with Immunefi, we are bringing in one of the most trusted names in blockchain security to ensure the XRPL Lending Protocol is truly battle-tested before financial institutions begin to integrate it."
Unlike many traditional DeFi platforms that rely on separate smart contracts, the XRPL Lending Protocol will operate as a native feature on the ledger. This design mandates that every component of the system must be meticulously secured to prevent loss of user funds.
Researchers are specifically encouraged to look for bugs that could affect vault solvency or asset safety. The rewards will be distributed in RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin.
In a unique incentive structure, the full $200,000 prize will be unlocked and shared if even one valid, major bug is discovered. Should the protocol pass the gauntlet with no major flaws, a smaller fallback pool of $30,000 will still be distributed among researchers who submit valid insights and contribute to the protocol's overall strengthening.
Attackathon Academy to Support Researchers
To prepare the community, the partnership also includes the XRPL Attackathon Academy, an educational phase running from October 13, 2025. This provides participants with live sessions featuring Ripple engineers, comprehensive developer guides, and dedicated test environments.
This concerted effort to involve the global white-hat hacking community is a significant statement from Ripple about the seriousness of its institutional DeFi roadmap. By proactively searching for and eliminating flaws, the company aims to build the confidence required for major financial players to utilize the new decentralized lending system on the XRP Ledger.
The outcome of this Attackathon is expected to be a key determinant in the final timeline for the public launch of the XRPL Lending Protocol, a development keenly watched by the entire crypto sector.
What's your take? Will the $200K bounty be enough to find a critical flaw in the XRPL's C++ code, or will the protocol pass this high-stakes security test?
