VISTORBELITUNG.COM,SCP-963, officially classified as "Immortality," is an ornate amulet made of white gold, approximately 15 centimeters in circumference, featuring thirteen brilliant-cut diamonds surrounding an oval-cut ruby in a starburst pattern. It is categorized as a Euclid-class anomaly, primarily known for its connection to the notorious Foundation researcher, Dr. Jack Bright.Anomalous Abilities of SCP-963
The primary anomalous effect of SCP-963 is the transfer and projection of consciousness, effectively granting the user a form of immortality though not of their original body.
Consciousness Transfer: When any living anthropoid (such as a human or ape) makes direct skin contact with SCP-963-1, the subject's original consciousness is wiped, and the mind of Dr. Jack Bright is projected from the amulet onto the subject.
Host Dependency: The person or creature who wears the amulet becomes the new host body for Dr. Bright's consciousness. His memories and personality transfer completely to the new host.
Permanent Imprinting: If the amulet is worn for approximately 30 days, Dr. Bright's consciousness permanently imprints onto the host body. This means the host becomes a new "Dr. Bright" individual, even if the amulet is removed and subsequently used by another person. The Foundation attempts to prevent this to avoid having multiple "Dr. Brights," who can be notoriously difficult to contain or control.
Temporary Possession: If the amulet is removed from the host before the 30-day imprinting period, the host's mind is left as a "blank slate" or in a vegetative state.
Background and Formation (Origin Story)
The origin of SCP-963's current anomalous state is deeply tied to the fate of Dr. Jack Bright, who was an average researcher at the Foundation before its effects manifested on him.
The Incident: The anomaly was originally just a simple amulet before a containment breach occurred. Dr. Bright, while transporting the amulet (SCP-963), was slain by SCP-076-2 (Able).
Consciousness Absorption: As Dr. Bright died while in direct contact with the artifact, his mind and consciousness were somehow absorbed and imprinted onto the amulet.
The First Host: The first person to come into contact with the amulet after the incident had their mind overwritten by the consciousness of the deceased Dr. Bright, effectively making him immortal via host transfer.
Since this event, SCP-963 has been continuously worn by a host, ensuring the continuation of Dr. Bright's existence within the Foundation often under heavy Foundation supervision due to his sometimes volatile and unconventional behavior. The immortality granted by the amulet is viewed by Dr. Bright himself as a kind of curse, as he is eternally bound to a cycle of possessing new bodies.
